According to Ahmednasir, the Judiciary is characterized by backlogs, runaway corruption and inefficiency among other negative connotations and the budget cut should not be an excuse for failing to serve Kenyans.

The lawyer further reiterated that the Judiciary is not all about buildings because even the existing judges and magistrates have failed to deliver to Kenyans.

"Judiciary is not about buildings...buildings...buildings...we would have been very very very sympathetic if the judiciary was delivering for Kenyans...it isn't...with over 1000 judges and magistrates the judiciary is moribund...backlogs...runaway corruption...inefficiency etc," reiterated Ahmednasir in a tweet on Wednesday.

On his part, Maraga warned that the budget cut would impede the efficiency of the courts in the country.

In his view, the Judiciary will be forced to stop some of its projects and programmes while others will have to be scaled down.

"In short, we wish to inform the public that while we shall continue doing our best to deliver justice to Kenyans, judicial services this year will be severely affected as a result of the budget cuts. Please bear with us," remarked Maraga on Tuesday as quoted by the Nation.

The Judiciary had sort for a budget allocation of Kshs 31.2 billion but the Budgetary Policy Statement cut it to Kshs 17.3 billion. This figure was further trimmed to Kshs 14.5 billion by Parliament through its Appropriation Act.
