Raila said both NASA and Jubilee leaderships are keen on ensuring that Kenyans get to Canaan as earlier envisioned by the opposition coalition in the disputed 2017 elections.

He said they will get to Canaan through the bridge which President Uhuru Kenyatta, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and himself have built with the intent of uniting the country.

Raila spoke at Katani in Mavoko, Machakos County on Monday.

He said they will get to the promised land without involving Deputy President William Ruto and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula.

Raila, however, said anybody who wishes can join the journey to Canaan.

He said Kalonzo and himself supported the bill on 8% VAT with conditions.

Raila said he cannot support what is going to affect Kenyans without a reason.

“We supported the VAT with conditions; corruption to end, siphoned money by corrupt leaders be returned to the public, money obtained in corrupt ways and hidden by individuals in foreign banks be brought back and expenditures of civil servants be reduced,” Raila said.

He said they had given the government one year to meet the conditions.

“We will not support this next year October, one year from now. It was a conditional support for the budget,” Raila said.

Former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama said Ruto’s worry was the NASA leadership’s silence.

Muthama asked Raila and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to give him the permission of organizing a NASA’s summit meeting within a week’s time so as to tame political nemesis.

“I want my bosses to give me the license to do what I know best,” Muthama said.

Muthama said NASA is intact.

“We will be meeting as NASA management board and in few days you will hear the songs, Raila Tibim, Kalonzo Tibim, Mudavadi tibim," added Muthama.

He said NASA’s policy of developing the country still stands.

Kalonzo on his part said he had given Muthama the permission to hold a meeting so as to set the summit's agenda.

He said it has come a time we need to talk with one voice for the country’s best interest.

“Let’s not be held captive by the party, there are lot’s of problems in the country,” said Kalonzo.
