Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho [Photo/ nation.co.ke]As 2017 comes to a close Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho had a year to forget. From unending run-ins with the Jubilee government to questions raised on the authenticity of his academic credentials, Joho had a year to forget. However, it was the academic part of his life that took center stage at the beginning of the year.In January, a copy of KCSE certificate allegedly belonging to Joho was making rounds on social media. According to the certificate, Joho had allegedly scored a D- in the form four exam. However, he dismissed the certificate saying it was not his. However, two months down the line, Joho found himself in yet another fight even as fresh questions were raised over the authenticity of his academic credentials.A new certificate allegedly belonging to Joho surfaced indicating that he had scored a C+ in the 1992 KCSE. Further, it was alleged that Joho used the said certificate to be admitted to the University of Nairobi in 2009 for a Bachelor of Commerce degree. But as pressure continued to mount on him and facing the risk of being barred to contest, Joho had to act in an effort to save his political career.March 28, aiming to bring to an end the debate surrounding his academic life, Joho went public declaring that he had scored a D- minus in the 1993 KCSE even as he disowned the C+ certificate. In a press conference, Joho explained the circumstance under which he scored a D- which he said he had transformed into real success.'I scored a D- but I have transformed it into a real success,' he said as he flanked by ODM MPs from the County.Joho's statement took many by surprise with his local political rivals using it as a campaign tool. But after winning the August 8 poll, Joho took a swipe at his rivals saying ' for those who have been mocking me, know that D- is your governor'.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
