January 5, 2017, was one of President Uhuru Kenyatta's most embarrassing moments in his decades-long political career as he was publicly humiliated by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

After weeks of a ceasefire, the battle between Uhuru and Joho was back on the cards. However, it was the Jubilee supremo who had a day to forget as sweat ran down his spine quite literally.

President Kenyatta was in Mombasa to launch the Buxton footbridge. The bridge was first of its kind in the county was meant to control traffic and at the same time check on rampant accidents.

In his speech, Uhuru boasted about his government's infrastructural development record in Mombasa.

" Over KSh. 600 million has been used to build this footbridge. Footpaths and slums in Mombasa will also be rehabilitated", Uhuru said.

But when he took to the podium, Joho did the unthinkable as he swiftly dismissed Uhuru's statement.

According to the fiery County Chief, the project which Uhuru commissioned was started by the grand coalition government of President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga where he served as Assistant Minister.

"I know the history of this project very well. It started in 2010 way before Jubilee came to power", Joho said as angry-looking Uhuru stood beside him in surprise.

Joho went further to accuse Uhuru's government of allegedly marginalizing Coastal counties.

"As a County Government, we have done our path.  We want to see what  Jubilee has done for the people as we head to this election", he added.

Since then, the already frosty relationship between Joho and Uhuru hit an all-time low even as the President vowed to cut him (Joho ) to shape.
