Peter Omariba Oteki from Kimangu is said to have killed the passenger few minutes past midnight, Wednesday as he ferried the passenger to his destination.

Confirming the incident, Rongai OCPD Joseph Mwamburi said the suspect who operates between Salgaa Centre and Kimangu village, killed his passenger by hitting him thrice with a hammer.

The victim who is a Prison Warder attached to Kilgoris Prison, had boarded the motorbike to Mama Ngina Secondary School.

According to the 30-years-old suspect, his passenger attacked him with a hammer with aim of stealing the motorbike, but he managed to take it from him and attack him with it.

However, Mwamburi dismissed the claims, saying: "He made a report that the passenger wanted to rob him, but after our initial investigations, we found that the time of reporting was far much way ahead than the time the incident occurred.''

“As such we have arrested the suspect and we will charge him with murder,'' Mwamburi said.

The deceased's body was taken to Nakuru Level four hospital mortuary while the suspect is being held at Menengai West police station.
