Police are probing an incident in which a gang raided two primary schools in Matungu, Kakamega County and stole property of an unknown value.

The schools are counting losses after the thugs made away with laptops and projectors following the raid.  

The criminals broke into Bulimbo RC and Shiyabo primary schools before stealing the items after they threatened the night guards at the place. Police have since interrogated the guards over the matter as investigations gain momentum.

The  Digital Literacy Programme gadgets were stolen during the process.  In both raids, the thieves forced their way into the office of the headteachers and his deputy's.

It is reported that, two projectors, a printer and 15 laptops were stolen from the scene during the raid.

Bulimbo Primary School headteacher, Miss Edith Nato said that one of the guards told her that he had been chased away by the thugs while manning the area. 

He also said that they noticed financial material and other items in his office scattered in different parts of the floor after the raid.

“We found financial documents and other properties in my office scattered everywhere and we estimate the loss to be over Sh100, 000,” said Nato.

 The watchman had reportedly informed the police of the raid moments after it occurred.
