Maalim contested for the Garissa Township Parliamentary seat but he lost to National Majority Assembly Leader Aden Duale. 

His efforts to challenge Duale’s win in court proved futile after his case was dismissed. Here are 5 less known facts about Farah Maalim 

1. He attended Maseno School  

Farah Maalim is a former student of Maseno School. 

The institution is still one of the centers of academic excellence to date. Maseno shaped Maalim’s life in different ways including leadership.

2. He holds a Bachelor’s Law Degree 

Maalim is a graduate of the University of Nairobi where he pursued law. 

Other notable Kenyans from the same university with law degrees are Siaya Senator James Orengo and Wiper Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. 

Maalim is currently pursuing a masters in Development studies.

3. He belongs to the Auliyahan sub-clan

Maalim is a member of the Auliyahan sub-clan, which is among the most influential in the matters of politics of the region.

4.He unsuccessfully contested for the senatorial seat  

He viewed for the Garissa Senatorial seat in 2013 but he was floored by Senator Yusuf Haji before he staged an unsuccessful political comeback in 2017. 

He remains a man to watch in the region. 

The politician has been in the arena for more than 20 years.
