Sportpesa's head of Human Resources, Terry Wanja Njagi, has sent emails to former employees asking to report to their head offices located at Chancery Building on Valley Road, Nairobi, on Friday, November 1.

According to some former employees who spoke to K24, they received the email Thursday afternoon, at 3:43 pm.

The said emails addressed two major concerns - withdrawal of termination notices dated 2nd October 2019 and  'Next steps.'

One employer told K24 that her hopes have been placed on what they will be told in the scheduled meeting.

“I got the email this afternoon, and all we can now do is speculate [that, hopefully, we will have our jobs back],” she was quoted by People Daily.

Early October, SportPesa fired all its about 400 employees for what they said was impossible to work under the new tax rules.

“It is not possible to operate under the new tax rules. This has become a hostile business environment,” a statement from the betting firm read.

The company's Chief Executive Ronald Karauri through a message to the* sacked employee said he was short of words over the decision.

“I don’t know what to say, but it appears this journey cannot continue. I’m disappointed,” Karauri said as quoted by Nairobi News.
