National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to dialogue and reintroduce the office of the Prime Minister.

According to them, this will foster unity in the country as politics widen the tribal divisions in this country.

Led by National Council of Churches of Kenya secretary general Canon Peter Karanja, the council also suggested the creation of an official leader of opposition slot that will ensure inclusivity of poll losers in government.

They faulted the 2010 constitution for locking out opposition from power leading to the current post-election drama.

“These divisions are expressions of unresolved grievances and perceptions of exclusion and denial of the dignity of the opposition by the arrangement of power as defined in the Constitution of Kenya 2010,” Karanja said as quoted by the Star.

However, NCCK stated that they are not pushing for a coalition government but only avoiding a crisis.

They said that coalitions are a reserve of politicians who can make arrangements if need be.
