Veteran politician and former Subukia Member of Parliament Koigi wa Wamwere has urged the opposition NASA alliance to overcome its grief after the Supreme Court validated President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election

Speaking in an interview on NTV Monday, Koigi urged the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga-led side to now bury the hatchet and take responsibility in national solution seeking with an aim of a better nation.

''I hope that with the electioneering period finally coming to an end, the opposition can now ready itself to serve Kenyans within its capacity. It should accept that the political period is over and this will be followed by its supporters.This, as a result leading to an improvement in among others, our deteriorating economy,'' he said.

Koigi who unsuccessfully vied for the Nakuru senatorial seat in the concluded August 8 general polls also stressed on the need for national healing to end the political and ethnic stalemate currently visible in the country.

He maintained that the President must lead by example by bringing on board the opposing side of the political divide.

''The country is currently dangerously divided on ethnic and tribal lines and this is an issue that only the president can solve best.I believe that this can be solved using a dialogue but that alone is not enough,more measures should be employed,'' said Koigi.
