[Photo|Lee Kinyanjui]Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui held discussion on how to accelerate growth of pyrethrum with Kentagra Biotechnology Company Ltd.The company has already set up a pilot plant at EPZ in Athi River and has plans of setting another plant at Naivasha. He said revival of the pyrethrum was now a reality following an establishment of a mega 45 acres seed bed in Molo-Nakuru County.The seed bed established by Kentagra Biotechnology Limited will be used to raise pyrethrum seedlings to be distributed to farmers for free within Nakuru County."Once the seedlings are distributed to farmers, they will translate to 4500 acres of pyrethrum plantation. The proposed P4 which has high yield and high quality will empower farmers economically," Kinyanjui said, Wednesday."Next week I have invited 17 Governors from Pyrethrum growing counties for a consultative forum on growth of pyrethrum sector."The governor said his administration would ensure conducive environment and easy facilitation of statutory documents to the investors in the pyrethrum sector.They also agreed on the need to train and civic education to change negative perception that the farmers have towards pyrethrum growing due to past experiences. "My administration will partner with all stakeholders to ensure pyrethrum growing becomes a reality in this county."
