[Photo|Anyang Nyong'o]Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o met with European Union delegation led by the German Ambassador to Kenya Jutta Frasch on Monday.The meeting aimed to deliberate on a wide range of issues from the current state of political affairs in Kenya to development and investment in Kisumu County and the entire Lake region with a possibility of establishing areas of cooperation between the county government of Kisumu and their respective governments.The delegation comprised among others the Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya Victor Ronneberg, Swedish Ambassador to Kenya Anna Jardfelt, Canadian High Commissioner to Kenya Sara Hradecky and Mr Siddharth Chatterjee the UNDP Resident Coordinator hosted by at the German Ambassador’s residence. While establishing the position of NASA in the current political impasse the envoys highlighted the need for constructive dialogue as the only way out to ensure peace and security in the country. Nyong'o maintained that millions of Kenyans crying out for justice in the streets must be heard and listened to. On development and investment the envoys acknowledged the importance of foreign governments establishing direct links with the county governments to strengthen ties.The ambassadors congratulated Governor Nyong’o on his election and pledged full support for his transformative agenda in Kisumu County. Nyong'o was accompanied by his senior advisor on Investment and Resource Mobilisation Victor Nyagaya. "The county government of Kisumu remains open to any partnership that will benefit the great people of Kisumu," he said.
