Commissioner puts inciters, propagandists on notice

Garissa County Commissioner James Kianda has warned politicians against spewing inflammatory remarks during this election period.

Addressing journalists at the Waberi Chief’s camp in Garissa on Saturday, Kianda said that hate mongers who are bend on inciting supporters will not be spared.

The commissioner said that political campaigns across the county will be monitored to root out rogue politicians.

He asked politicians eyeing political seats to preach unity in their campaigns.

“Politicians who perpetuate hatred in their campaigns must be ready to face full force of the law because we are not going to spare anyone found inciting Kenyans,” said Kianda.

The Garissa county commissioner said that they are closely working with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to tame hate mongers.

He also warned politicians against perpetuating hooliganism in campaigns.

Kianda appealed to locals to remain peaceful assuring them of their safety before, during and after the August 8 polls.

He said that police will increase surveillance across the county.

“Our security systems are on alert and citizens are guaranteed of their safety as the country heads to the August polls,” he said.
