The Kisumu county government and Kenya Breweries Limited have finally unveiled the new joint committee to look into the community interests in the ongoing revival of the Kisumu brewery Plant.

The team, which is dubbed Liaison and Delivery committee, will be mandated to handle community engagement, issues management, information dissemination on employment and project updates.

The committee will be made up of five members that will include Nerry Achar, Alice Moraa, John Okise, Kennedy Ajwang and Obunga Awich.

“We are happy with KBL’s approach and the progress of the project. We appreciate the fact that problems will arise from time to time and we must always seek to solve the problems together,” said Prof Nyong’o while announcing the formation of the committee.

KBL Managing Director Jane Karuku welcomed the formation of the new committee saying that the brewer was delighted with the ongoing progress at the Sh 15 billion Kisumu Brewery project as they even look forward to complete the project on schedule and begin the production next year.

“We have made a lot of progress at the new brewery site since July and we are delighted at the progress. We look forward to completing the construction works on schedule,” said Karuku.

Kariuku also noted that the factory will create a ready market for the sorghum farmers in the nyanza region as they will be producing Senator Keg brand with locally-sourced sorghum.

She also noted that about 15,000 sorghum farmers will be guaranteed ready market for their crop.
