Flamboyant Embakasi South MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino maintains that October 17th presidential elections date as announced by IEBC remains null and void.
IEBC had issued the date against the wish of the opposition team led by Raila Odinga who said certain radical changes but be executed within the commission before elections.
And in what is seen as a jibe to Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Owino said elections were important than examination in schools.
“I don’t see anything special in examinations. They can as well give these candidates the exams as a take away which can be collected by chiefs for marking,” said the outgoing SONU chairman.
He added:”We must have political stability first before anything else. IEBC must use the 60 days given by the constitution to conduct credible polls.”
Education CS Matiang’i had pleaded with the commission to hold elections before official commencement of national exams on October 23rd.
Constitutionally, a repeat election should be held within 60 days after the court ruling that nullified elections.
