NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka is reportedly plotting a dramatic comeback to the National Assembly after spending months in the political cold.

It is believed that Mwingi North MP Nzengu Mushimi's decision to apply East African Legislative Assembly position is meant to create space for the former Vice President.

Should Mushimi be approved to EALA, his parliamentary position will fall vacant, precipitating a by-election where Kalonzo will then vie.

Should that happen, the Wiper Party leader is expected to win the seat, having represented the constituency before for 28 years.

Following the developments, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has welcomed the decision, conceding that Kalonzo will add value to the House.

In an opinion editorial published with The Star Newspaper on Thursday, Duale noted that Kalonzo's vast political experience will make him a resourceful addition to the National Assembly.

"If Kalonzo comes to Parliament, I think he will add value because he is a seasoned politician. He can also become the Official Leader of the Opposition, the leader of the Minority side in the House, according to the Constitution," he opined.

"By coming to Parliament, maybe Kalonzo wants to be at same level as his friend and NASA co-principal Senator Moses Wetang'ula, the Senate Minority Leader," he added.
