Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale’s efforts to reach out to opposition chief Raila Odinga have been thwarted.

The Garissa Township MP had tried to reach out to Raila for a possible peace deal, a local daily reports.

However, Raila’s elder brother Oburu Odinga directed Duale to ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to hold direct discussions with the NRM leader.

“And he [Duale] was also trying to see if there is anything that I can talk to my brother [Raila] about. But I told him, that it's better President Uhuru reaches out directly to Raila. Not through me. You know political temperatures are high, so naturally, as a stalwart of Jubilee, from all angles, he would want the temperatures to cool," Oburu said.

Oburu also revealed that he met with Aden Duale on Friday to ask for his support in Oburu’s quest for an EALA slot.

“Duale is my friend. Even on Friday, I went to his office. I was campaigning for an EALA seat. You have to reach out to everybody, so I was looking for his support,” he said.
