While a few indulgences won't age you overnight, a continuously poor diet can accelerate the aging process of your skin (and teeth) over time.  Here a few foods that speed up the ageing process

Sweets

Excessive consumption of sugar starts a process called glycation. When you eat more sugar than your cells can process, the excess sugar molecules combine with proteins, creating advanced glycation end products. This causes damage to your skin's collagen (the protein that keeps skin firm and youthful).

Alcohol

“A healthy liver is linked to healthy skin”.  A healthy liver is able to expel toxins that would affect your skin; however, if those toxins are not removed your skin can develop issues like acne and wrinkles. Also, alcohol dehydrates the body and is bad for your sleep which can lead to wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and reduced skin elasticity.

Salty foods

Despite the fact that you do not cook with salt, that does not mean your intake is low. A lot of canned foods are preserved with sodium. This can make your body retain water and cause your skin to look ‘puffy’.  Look out for processed meats like deli meat, sausage and bacon.

Red Meat

Fatty meat generates free radicals.  Free radicals are in search of missing electrons, they snag electrons from healthy cells, damaging them in the process. This damage ultimately affects your skin's ability to protect itself and generate collagen. Don’t get me wrong it’s perfectly fine to eat a burger every now and then but don’t make it a daily habit.
