Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar is mourning the demise of his mother Aisha Abdillahi Suleiman Mazrui.Mazrui passed away on Sunday night.Funeral prayers are expected to be conducted today (Monday) at the Masjid Mandry Mosque.Politicians from both divides including President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho have condoled with the outspoken politician following his mother’s death.“It is with profound shock and a deep sense of loss that I have learnt of the death of Mama Aisha Abdillahi Suleiman Mazrui, mother of former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar Sarai. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and relatives,” said Uhuru.On his part, Joho eulogised Mazrui as a kind and generous woman.“It is with deep sorrow that Mombasa mourns the death of Mama Aisha Abdullahi Suleiman Mazrui, the mother to the former Senator of Mombasa Hon Hassan Omar Sarai. She was an extremely kind and generous woman known to many in Old Town as Khalati Esha,” wrote Joho in a Facebook post on Monday.Mazrui will be laid to rest at Mazrui cemetery opposite Fort Jesus.
