The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has finally announced the date for the repeat presidential election.IEBC has set October 17, 2017 for the fresh polls. The electoral body has further noted only President Uhuru Kenyatta and the National Super Alliance (Nasa) flag bearer Raila Odinga will be on the ballot. This means that the other six presidential candidates who participated in the August 8 polls will not participate in the repeat elections.IEBC's move comes hours after Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i requested the commission to conduct the election before October 17 so as not to interfere with the school's examination time tables. The Supreme Court of Kenya on Friday nullified Uhuru's reelection saying he was not validly elected due to irregularities and illegalities in the election process.
