Celebrated TV journalist Jeff Koinange has taken a step in philanthropy.
Koinange has began an initiative to develop and stock a library in the Kibra slums where students from the neighbourhood are expected to gain access to reading material.
Koinange said they were sourcing for funds and called upon well-wishers to send their contrributions to help complete the project.
"Hey folks, let us do this. We owe it to the young ones. We owe it to our future generation," he said.
"We all need your help in funding," he added
He said it will be dedicated to him and named Jeff Koinange Library and Resource Centre.
It will have both books and electronic reading resources fitted with electric power and wifi internet connection.
