[Photo|Ali Hassan Joho]Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has flagged off the 2017 Kenya Airways East African Safari Classic Rally.He flagged off the premier Motorsport event in Sub-Sahara Africa in the county on Thursday morning, saying: "May the best rally crew win."This comes after he met with the organisers of the East African Safari Classic Rally who paid a courtesy call to his office on Wednesday.He said Mombasa County is proud to be the home of an international motor sport event of such magnitude. The event kicks off at Sarova Whitesands Resort."I am delighted to note that amongst the 40 contenders taking part in the competition 14 of them are Kenyans while the rest are drawn from Europe, South America, Tanzania and South Africa.""My gratitude goes out to the directors of East African Safari Classic Rally Mr Jaideep Vohra and Mr. Raju Krishnani, and all the organisers and sponsors for choosing Mombasa as the premier destination for sports tourism," Joho said, Wednesday."I welcome all participants and their fans from across the world to enjoy their stay in Mombasa. Karibuni Sana," he added.
