The KADU Asili Party has opposed the push for the secession of the Coast region.Led by former Magarini Constituency candidate Franco Esposito, KADU Asili supporters said residents in the Coast region are grappling with the issues of marginalisation and poverty, adding that the push for the secession is uncalled for.Speaking during a press briefing at his Woburn residence in Magarini, Esposito said Coast residents only want to be empowered, so as to get an opportunity to transform their lives.“KADU Asili welcomes the decision of the Supreme Court and wants the opposition NASA coalition to allow the country to begin reconstruction after the political stalemate that has been witnessed since August 8, 2017,” said Esposito. The politician said the Coast region will seize being an ODM stronghold after NASA leader Raila Odinga exits the political scene.“The Coast region will not be an ODM stronghold during the next general election. Coast cannot secede from other regions in the country,” he said. The Magarini politician said it was high time Raila retired from active politics.“Let him retire and allow young people to rule, ODM will be finished in the next elections,” he said.Esposito said they fully support the Jubilee administration and are happy that the Supreme Court upheld President Kenyatta’s victory.“We support the Jubilee government and we are happy the President retained his seat, as he will continue addressing the issues facing the Coast region,” he said.Esposito, who is popularly known as Kasoso Baya said the main issue affecting Coast residents was lack of title deeds and irrigation projects to boost their livelihoods.
