A wave of celebration kept sweeping Nakuru County a day after education Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i announced the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2017 results. The object of admiration, just like in most parts of the country being the girl child.
Rina Patiat led in her class at Excell Academy scoring 416 points out of 500. The 13-year-old was visibly overwhelmed with joy.
“It has taken hard work and discipline for me to have achieved this kind of performance. I would like to thank my teachers and parents for giving me the support that I dearly need. I will always be indebted to them," Said Patiat.
Patiat who is aspiring to be a family lawyer after school thanked her parents and teachers for their unwavering support over the last eight years.
Excell Academy Director Muthoni Kuria commended this year`s class for its sterling performance saying the class with 86 candidates had nearly two-thirds of the scoring above 380 marks.
Elsewhere, at Gospel Campaigners Ministries pupils, parents and teachers danced to the same tune after the top pupil, Esther Wanjohi scored 423 marks.
The Directorate of Education in Nakuru County reported a higher number of female candidates at 25,269 that sat for this year`s KCPE examinations compared to 25,259 boys.
