The 3rd round of KCB Road to the masters came to a dramatic conclusion on Saturday 16th June 2018 at the par 71 Eldoret club. 48-year-old Jackson Kiprono emerged the overall winner after carding 39 points.
KCB Great Rift RSQ Stephen Mosong was delighted with the huge turnout adding that KCB is committed to nurturing golf talent in the region.
"For us as KCB, golf is one of the avenues of interacting with our customers and appreciating them for supporting our business,“ said Mosong.
Former KCB rugby player Newton Ong'alo was crowned the guest winner during the outing while Kamal Manek carded 39 points to finish as runner-up.
KCB Kakamega branch Manager Eliud Siganga scooped the staff award while Handicap 15 lady captain Jane Koech won the ladies award. The weekend action saw a record 14 birdies sank in total with Nanji Shilien taking a bigger share of five two clubs.
Club Chairman Andrew Chelogoi who also sank a birdie lauded KCB for sponsoring the event."KCB Bank stands out in golf sponsorship over the years, we are privileged of our close partnership in growing the sport in the region”, said Chelogoi.
Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos said KCB changed the golf scene in the region and we are glad that they have reached out to more amateur golfers who have honed their skills over the years, I have been to KCB golf events for the last five years and my game has significantly improved.
Six golfers who won a ticket to the prestigious KCB Karen Masters includes; Jackson Kiprono, Kamal Manek, Simon Chepkwony, Eliud Siganga, Jane Koech and Newton Ong'alo.
It was a glorious day for 43-year-old Shilen Nanji who sank 4 birdies in the back nine and one in the first nine.
"When you play such amazing golf it means you aren't far from being the best, I am looking forward to more KCB events to better my skills", said Nanji.
The fourth leg of KCB Road to the Masters will tee off at Nyali Golf Club on 30th of June 2018.
