Opposition leader Raila Odinga says he is confident that Supreme Court ruling would pave way for straight by elections in five counties in which NASA lost governorship to Jubilee.
A number of governorship losers across the country have filed petitions in lower courts challenging election of their opponents.
At Kajiado on Sunday, Odinga said his successful petition in court would set precedence for nullification of governorship elections in a number of counties.
“We shall go to by-elections in a number of counties that Jubilee stole victory of our candidates. Our lawyers have gone through the outcome and I am sure they will do a good job.
“Counties such as Machakos, Kajiado, Wajir, Garissa, and Nairobi there was outright theft. We are optimistic that we shall go back to ballot,” he said.
Wavinya Ndeti has challenged election of Alfred Mutua in Machakos while Evans Kidero is on Mike Sonko’s neck in Nairobi. David Nkedienye will be challenging Joseph Lenku’s victory.
Similar petitions have been filed by Ahmed Abudillahi of Wajir and Nadhif Jamah of Garissa.
