Kenya's first ever assembled car Mobius II has received more pre orders than it was planned signalling increasing demand for the locally assembled car.

On Thursday, Mobius Motors Commercial Director Markus Schroder in an interview with The Business Daily said that the initial batch of 50 units that had been planned for is already depleted and they are intending to increase the number of units to 100.

"The first production runoff of the new Mobius II with initial batch of 50 units is already subscribed with pre-orders. All 50 units of the first generation of the car were sold," Dr. Schroder said as quoted by the business Daily.

He said that they intend to recruit a complete production team that will guarantee faster production of the said 100 units.

"We plan to increase production over time and rump it up as we continue to generate market interest," Dr. Schroder added.

In addition, the commercial director said that though majority of the orders are from Kenya,  they have also received some orders from Tanzania, Uganda, the United States of America and Germany indicating that the company is gaining momentum.

The Mobius II which is coming in three models, Mobius Cargo, Adventure and Adventure Plus will be unveiled early next year.
