Supreme Court of Kenya may not make an independent decision just like in August in the current prevailing conditions, says ODM leader, Raila Odinga.

At Washington DC on Thursday, Odinga claimed that Jubilee administration has reverted to intimidation of independent bodies, a move that has sabotaged execution of duties independently.

“Supreme Court has been targeted through reign of terror by Jubilee. The assault began when Chief Justice David Maraga and fellow judges made a landmark decision of nullifying a presidential election.”

For the second time in as many months, the Supreme Court will yet again hear and determine a similar presidential petition challenging Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory.

To further instill fears at the judiciary, Odinga said, the government resorted to further threatening of judges adding that their quest to have security beefed up was declined by the state.

“The court is now under siege given that they were denied an opportunity to hear a case challenging October elections. The government refused to beef up security for judges making quite a number miss,” he said.

Moments after nullification of the presidential election in September, Uhuru launched an onslaught at the judiciary and even threatened to teach judges a lesson by ‘fixing’ the institution.
