Hours after Chief Justice David Maraga presided over the bench that upheld President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory, a section of leaders from his Nyamira home have reacted to the ruling.

Unlike the September ruling which was widely celebrated, the latest ruling has been met by equal measures of praise and criticism.

At Bonyamatuta where Maraga hails from, MCA Robinson Mocheche said: “Two steps backwards after a milestone of achievements, so sad.”

Similarly, Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama in an interview with local media dismissed the ruling adding that the opposition team had chosen another path.

“It does not concern as because we never filed the petition. As a people, we had chosen another path and our focus is on People’s Assembly.”

However, nominated Jubilee MCA George Mosiori on his Facebook termed the ruling ‘wise’ adding that judges made the decision for the interest of the nation.

Jubilee points man Walter Nyambati also hailed the court’s decision adding that the opposition team had abandoned elections at their will.

“We won fairly through hard work and the courts have made the decision. Let us now build the nation,” he told a local FM station.
