Acting Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has dismissed claims that unknown people set his Borabu house ablaze on Tuesday evening.

Pictures circulating social media platforms indicated that Matiang’i’s house had indeed been burnt, a claim he termed as ‘malicious’ through his brother, John Matiang’i of KNUT.

“The house of Fred Matiang’i is intact and no intruder has been spotted. Treat whatever you’re seeing as malicious propaganda,” John, an official with the teacher’s union said.

For two months now, the outspoken Education CS has been under intense pressure from a section of opposition leaders who accuse him of misusing the police force.

Recently, he was also on spot for allegedly associating himself with outlawed Chinkororo sect, which he reportedly said will be actively involved in restoring order during his electioneering period.

“I can assure you that police are guarding the homestead and I don’t think he has done anything bad for his house to be burnt,” added Matiang’i.

It is not however, clear on the origin of the photos circulating online showing a mansion being on fire on late Tuesday evening.

Matiang’i is one of the influential ministers in Uhuru Kenyatta’s government and was appointed on acting capacity upon the death of Joseph Nkaissery.
