The top student in Wajir County in this year’s Standard Eight national exam results, Al-Shoowkany Mohamednur wants to study medicine.

The 13-year-old boy from Funanbua Primary School in Wajir scored 411 marks and hopes to join Alliance High School.

“I want to help my community. I want to help reduce congestion in public hospitals. I have seen people suffering in Wajir. My dream is to study medicine and help them,” Mohamednur said.  

The best student in North Eastern came from Mandera County, Yasmin Muktar from Al-Huda Star Academy who scored 422 marks.

Muktar who attributed her success to hard work and support from her parents hopes to join one of the National schools and dreams to be a Doctor like her father.

“I expected better, but Alhamdulillah I’m happy. I’m grateful to my parents for providing me with a good environment to study, to my teachers and to my schoolmates,” said Muktar.

In Garissa County top pupil at Mnara Academy was Abdulathim Mohamed with 410 marks followed by Hibbo Ali who got 408 marks while Maryan Ali got 407 marks from the same school.

At Al Azar, Isat Abdullahi was ranked the best girl in the school with 400 marks as all the top students in Garissa said discipline, hard work, cooperation between teachers and students helped them perform well.

“I expected to pass since I had worked hard and prayed a lot. My dream is to join Kenya High Girls,” said Maryann.
