On Wednesday, 16 cows are reported to have been stolen from former President Daniel Arap Moi's farm in Ol-Banata, Rongai Sub-County.

Bahata OCPD Edward Wafula says preliminary investigations revealed the incident took place at 3 am on Wednesday.

Wafula added that those behind the raid attempted to pull out a truck before securing a tractor which also got entangled along the path.

"The animals were loaded into a Mitsubishi canter truck registration number KBX 164H. The suspects then drove towards Bahati Trading Center before the vehicle got stuck in the mud at Kameruri," the OCPD stated.

"On realizing that the situation was getting complicated they decided to offload the animals from the truck. Some animals strayed into nearby farms before police who had received a tip-off and were tracking the suspects arrived and arrested the duo," Wafula added.

According to Wafula, the police managed to arrest three suspects and were in hot pursuit of two others believed to have been involved but they managed to get away in a saloon car.
