A section of leaders from Ukambani have called upon National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga and his running mate Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka to drop calls for protests ahead of the rerun.

According to the leaders, calls for protests are likely to sabotage the economy of this nation.

The elders, who spoke in different barazas in Machakos and Makueni counties, advised the opposition to embrace dialogue.

Led by chairman Boniface Kilonzo and former chairman of Kenya Medical Training College board chairman Philip Kaloki, the elders said that the nation will continue to suffer if calls for protests are not dropped with immediate effect.

“The call for demonstrations is not in good faith because they are meant to cause chaos and destruction of property. This is economic sabotage punishable by law,” he said, as quoted by Standard.

The leaders also faulted Raila, who is taking a fourth stab at the nation’s top seat for dropping from the rerun, saying that he has been insincere in what he terms as the fight to liberate Kenya from poor governance.

“The only path to leadership in our country is on the ballot. Raila’s withdrawal from the poll is an indication that their participation was personal and was not for the good of the people.
