Following Zimbabwe’s withdrawal from the Cecafa 2017 tournament set to take place in December Secretary General Nicholas Musonye has chastised Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe until a day ago had confirmed that they would indeed be taking part in this year edition of the CECAFA Senior Challenge over fears of insecurity.

The move is said to have angered Musonye and the Secretary General expressed his frustration during a briefing that took place at the Utalii Grounds on Thursday.

“Zimbabwe should just shut up if they do not want to come for the tournament,” Musonye said.

Musonye also highlighted the recent removal of the long serving President Robert Mugabe saying things in Zimbabwe are even worse than Kenyas.

“They have their issues which are bigger than ours and cannot talk about the security in Kenya. They had requested to be part of this tournament and we considered them. We had not bothered to invite them here so the tournament will still go on without them,” he added.

He went on to confirm that all venues selected for the senior tournament are indeed ready and the sponsors along with the government will finance the event.
