The petition against Dr Alfred Mutua’’s election as Machakos Governor by Wavinya Ndeti, took a new twist today when the Governor’s team of lawyers led by Waweru Gatonye withdrew their representation from the governor.

The move came after justice Aggrey Muchelule, declined leave by the lawyers to adjourn the case to allow the lawyers to prepare for more application against the case.

At this juncture, the lawyers walked out of the court in the full glare of both Mutua’s and Wavinya’s supporters packed in the court to follow the proceedings.

Surprisingly justice Muchelule, despite this ordered witnesses from the applicant's side to proceed with their testimony with Wavinya emerging as the first key witness.

However, the IEBC lawyer Kimani Muhoro, maintained that he would remain in the court and continued to cross-examine Wavinya as she gave her evidence.

Wavinya revealed that the county government employees were recruited as presiding, deputy presiding officers and agents for the governor something which she proved by mentioning their names putting Muhoro into the task as he cross-examined her.

Later Dr Mutua arrived in court in person and pleaded with the court to adjourn the proceedings to Thursday this week to enable him to fetch lawyers to represent him a prayer that was granted by justice Muchelule.

This prompted Wavinya’s  testimony to be halted for Thursday this week.
