Nakumatt Supermarket has closed one of its outlets in Kisumu, situated at Mega Plaza along Oginga Odinga Street.

The outlet has remained closed for over a week and the status of the employees remained unknown.

A watchman who is guarding the premises declined to talk to the press. There was no poster either pinned to clarify to their valued customers what necessitated the closure.

At the back of their store there was a vehicle ferrying goods.

A loader who requested to remain anonymous reported that he was just hired to help in loading of the goods whose destination he did not know.

“I am just on hire; I can’t tell exactly where the goods are being taken to. If I accompany them to where they will be doing the off loading then the better,” he said.

Nakumatt is maintaining its other outlet situated at Mega City along Nairobi road.

This comes at a time the former giant supermarket applied last week for an administration order under the insolvency act.

In the papers filed at the High Court, the directors of Nakumatt supermarket had proposed Peter Kahi of PKF Consulting Limited to be the appointed as the administer with a view of turning around the supermarket.
