On Thursday, a 25-year-old man Daniel Mburu, went missing after realizing that local authorities were up and down tracking him for marrying a 15-year-old girl who sat for her KCPE exams in 2015, at Kagoto Primary school.

Area residents broke the news to the area chief who followed the girl where the man had rented her a house, and were living as husband and wife. However the man was not there.

“I am 15 years old and he is my husband though he is not around,” said the girl.

“My parents know that am married, and even his parents know that we are married,” she added.

The Nyumba Kumi leaders tracked the man to his working area in a construction site, where he denied marrying the girl claiming she is a cousin.

When the man noticed that he had lied and would be brought to book for marrying an underage girl, he ran away.

The girl's mother claimed she ran away from home.

“She first went missing on March this year (2016), we kept on searching for her. Two months later she wrote me a short message (SMS), telling me that I should not worry because she is in safe hands,” the mother said.

“The boy’s parents came and reported that he had my daughter, and because my family is not well up, I could not do anything since she was already pregnant” she added.
