Ex- Kitutu Masaba Abuya Abuya has backed Siaya Senator James Orengo to take over the mantle should opposition leader Raila Odinga retire.

On Sunday, Orengo led a mega rally at Jacaranda in Nairobi despite the absence of NASA principals, the first before a presidential petition challenging Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory.

Abuya, a former member of seven bearded sisters said: “Orengo has been in the political scene and he has the ability and capacity to lead.”

Although Odinga maintains that he will never be on the ballot again, he is, however, keen to have the country goes for an election in 90 days.

With succession battle lined up, Orengo is said to be juxtapositioned to take over the mantle, given his national appeal to NASA supporters.

“At the moment, only Orengo can take over. He will unite ODM supporters and no other leader from Luo land who can fit that shoe,” he said.

His fame, Abuya adds, was cemented during the presidential petition that led to the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s August victory.

Both Orengo and Odinga have shared both close and bitter relationships with the most painful coming in 1994when they both left Ford Kenya.
