NASA leader Raila Odinga jetted back into the country on Wednesday evening, but the coalition’s expected big announcement will not be made until Saturday.

The opposition coalition was expected to make a major announcement on Thursday, but due to Odinga making a late landing in the country, it was pushed to Saturday.

His announcement will come two days before President Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing-in on Tuesday after he was cleared by the Supreme Court last early this week.

Raila jetted out of the country a few hours before the supreme court ruling on Monday, his trip coming two days after landing in the country from a trip of the US, which was marred by chaotic scenes in Nairobi.

It is not clear what took Odinga to Zanzibar, but reports indicate he was on a short holiday, which came as a result of the chaotic scenes.

"The unrest pushed Odinga out of the country. He left Kenya and is now in Zanzibar, off the coast of mainland Tanzania,” said Mr Salim Lone, his longtime political advisor who spoke to the New York Times.

Odinga and his NASA leaders have maintained that they will not recognize Kenyatta’s presidency, which they said he won unfairly.
