Nyanza regional police coordinator Leonard Katana has appealed to the local residents to stop any demonstrations to give a conducive atmosphere to candidates who started their end year national examinations today (Tuesday).

Katana said the candidates must sit their examination in a proper ambience devoid of any challenges.

Katana said officers have been deployed in the entire examination centers in the region to ensure safety of the candidates while writing their final examination.

“We managed to dispatch officers in all the examination centres. I want to assure candidates of maximum security,” he said.

He called upon the local residents to put the welfare of the child first and stop engaging in any form of demonstration during this examination period.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Tuesday as class eight candidates starts their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations, Katana said any demonstration will automatically have effect on the ongoing examinations.

He said the candidates have prepared for the examinations for the last eight years and should not be disappointed but rather supported.

“We must be a live to the fact that these are our children and any form of demonstration will interfere with their examinations,” he said.

Katana said they have put in a place a monitoring and surveillance team that will ensure that the candidates are not interfered with during the examination period.
