The case challenging the election of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has taken a new twist after the petitioner Hassan Omar asked the presiding Judge Lydia Achode to withdraw from hearing the case.In a letter to his Lawyer Yusuf Aboubakar, the former Senator has expressed his misgivings about Lady Justice Achode's ability to serve justice.Omar has accused the judge of open bias in her handling of the petition.Omar, who finished a distant third in the Mombasa gubernatorial race which was won by Joho, now wants a new Judge to handle the case when it resumes. In his petition, Omar had claimed that there were massive irregularities committed during the poll in favour of Joho that affected the final outcome. In his defense, Joho defended his win saying that the poll was conducted in accordance with the law and that he won fairly.Joho through his Lawyer Mohamed Balala had also taken Omar to task to explain why Suleiman Shahbal who came second during the poll never filed a petition, yet he (Omar) filed it despite coming third. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
