After their bitter falllout in the run to the 2013 elections, few expected NASA leader Raila Odinga and his political advisor-cum-critic Miguna Miguna to ever mend fences.

The frosty relationship between the two hit a new-low when Miguna wrote a controversial book, 'Peeling Back the Mask' that was damaging to Raila's 2013 Presidential bid. But times change. Dr. Miguna is now Raila's key defender from Jubilee onslaught.

In the run to the 2017 election, Miguna who was contesting for Nairobi gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate, had started to soften his stance towards Raila Odinga. To many, he was warming back to ODM.

It was after losing in that poll that he showed signs that rejoining Raila's camp was a matter of when rather than if. Throughout the many TV interviews he attended, he remained critical of Jubilee government.

When NASA launched the 'Resist' campaign in October, Miguna was conspicuously present. The five year political divorce was over and he was reading from the same political page with Raila.

When NASA changed to NRM, Dr. Miguna became the face of the new wing. He declared himself the NRM Head of Operations. And since then, there has been no turning back. A new Miguna has been born.

In the past few weeks, the barrister has been a very vocal politician pushing for the swearing in of Raila as the ' people's president'. Even with the government warning that the act will attract treason charges, Miguna has been adamant even ad he insists that the former Prime Minister has no choice but to take an oath of office.

A fortnight ago, an agitated Miguna fired a warning shot at NASA strategists he accuses of delaying the much-hyped swearing in.

As to whether the January 30 swearing in will see the light if the day remains to be seen. And if it takes place, Miguna's role will not go unnoticed.
