[Photo|Busia County Government]The campaign rally on August 4, 2017 by Busia gubernatorial candidate Paul Otuoma at Bulemia Juakali Centre in Butula was illegal, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong's lawyer Joseph Makokha said on Wednesday.Speaking while cross examining Otuoma's brother Kizito Otuoma in the case filed by Peter Odima challenging the re-election of Ojaamong, Makokha produced IEBC campaign schedule before court to confirm Otuoma was supposed to be in Funyula only on that day.The matter came up when Kizito Otuoma alleged that Ojaamong stormed their rally on that day that led to clashing between supporters of the two candidates.Kizito who was Otuoma's Chief Agent had also claimed that Ojaamong, who was present in Court, held his rally in Busia town on August 5, contrary to the IEBC campaign schedule. It later emerged that IEBC agreed that Otuoma holds his rally at the Taxi Park and Ojaamong at Busia County Stadium. Two witnesses had earlier issued contradicting statements. Leonard Okodo Olendo confessed that Otuoma team arrived at Bulemia rally 20 minutes after Ojaamong left while Martin Shikuku Radilo said Ojaamong team blocked him from entering the venue where Otuoma was also scheduled to hold his rally.Earlier, Marachi Council of Elders Organizing Secretary Lawrence Busibi Makanda failed to table evidence over claims that some people linked to Ojaamong were involved in voter bribery in Butula Sub County before and during the August 8 general elections.Otuoma will be the 18th and last witness to present his evidence for the petitioner on December 19 before the first respondent, the IEBC lines up its witnesses starting with two on that day.
