Martin Oloo, a political analyst, has said that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) cannot afford to lose Funyula MP Paul Otuoma ahead of the August polls.

Oloo argues that Otuoma is not a pushover when it comes to politics of this county, adding that the feud between him and incumbent Sospeter Ojaamong is a fight between Teso and Luhya communities.

“Otuoma is a disaster in waiting for ODM because the war in Busia is about Luhyas and Tesos. However, ODM as a party has the tendency of shooting itself in the foot because it does not learn anything new,” he said, as quoted by Star.

He goes on to argue that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto’s side stands to reap big from the Busia governor nomination fiasco if Otuoma decides to contest for the seat as an Independent candidate in the forthcoming general polls.

Oloo also said that Jubilee party has a relatively high number of supporters in the area, adding that Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba’s Labour Party’s support for the current leadership cannot be ignored when it comes to the analysis of politics of this part of the nation.

“Presence of Jubilee is prominent in the county given that Teso North and South constituencies are held by Jubilee MPs and Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba’s decision to back President Uhuru Kenyatta through his Labour Party of Kenya,” he added.
