The patient who killed a nurse at Chiromo Lane Medical Centre has been handed a remand term of 14 days.

Joseph Njoroge will spend the two weeks at Industrial area prison over the murder of nurse Faustine Mwandime on December 6.

Following an application made by the prosecution, Justice Jessie Lesiit ordered that a mental examination be conducted on Njoroge before he pleads to the charges of murder.

Defence lawyer Cliff Ombeta had however opposed the application saying his client was granted bail earlier by a magistrate's court.

Lesiit dismissed his argument saying the case will be mentioned on December 27.
