Prophet Dr. David Edward Owour is the most learned preacher in Kenya who has an extensive academic background.
Born to Hezekiah and Margaret Ochieng Owour in 1966 at Goma, Nyanza Province, Dr. Owuor went to Makerere University in Kampala but could not complete his education at the university owing to unrest in Uganda.
He later transferred to the University of Nairobi where he studied a Bachelor of Science degree which he completed in 1988.
The second-born in a family of six, prophet Owuor still at the University of Nairobi undertook Masters in Genetics.
When he completed his masters, Dr. Owuor was given two scholarships to Germany and Israel for being one of the leading students at the institution.
He went to Israel at the Ben Gurion University for his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics. Dr. Owuor also holds a degree from the University of Giessen’s Institute for Genetics in Germany.
After finishing his studies in Israel, Dr. Owuor was appointed as a Post-Doctoral Fellow for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Illinois in Chicago where he researched and taught in the College of Pharmacy.
Later on, he was hired by the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ), in the Department of Surgery, and the Division of Surgical Oncology, within the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey (UMDNJ).
According to the Standard, Dr. Owuor at the Department of Pharmaceutics in New Jersey was looking at not only the cancer chemotherapy but also got involved in cancer chemoprevention.
