Despite being a long time attorney to opposition leader Raila Odinga, lawyer James Orengo recalls moments he fought on behalf of President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto in court.
For over four decades, Orengo has remained active within corridors of judiciary where he has prosecuted cases touching constitutionalism and human rights.
And at an interview with NTV, Orengo defended his position as a defender of human rights and justice adding that he only stands for equal justice in the society.
“In my many years of practice, I am only interested in ensuring justice for all despite your social political inclination.
“For instance, I went to court to represent Uhuru and Ruto in 2006 despite all of us coming from different ideological schools of thought,” he said.
The high magnitude case involved suing of President Mwai Kibaki and his government for illegally sabotaging activities in KANU party by oppressing Uhuru Kenyatta, who was chairman by then.
Among those who worked on the case include Raila Odinga’s lawyers Otiende Amollo, Kethi Kilonzo and Pheroze Nowrojee.
