Top KCPE candidate Goldyn Kakuya was today, Thursday feted by the albinism society, who reiterated the importance of supporting students living with the condition.

“We never thought we will have one of us who will be a champion across the country, we should celebrate. When we started this journey, it was very difficult,” said Isaac Mwaura, nominated MP.

“Today, we are here to celebrate the fruits of our awareness creation, and embracing the people living with albinism,”

“When we started, we were wondering whether we could get sunscreen lotions for people with albinism, we were wondering whether we will have such people getting degrees, today we are here to say that we have the future with us here,” he added.

The girl defied all odds to top the country in last year’s KCPE, scoring 455 marks in the process.

She thanked the society for fighting for their rights, and promised to make them proud in future.

“Thank you for your support, for fighting for our rights and we know that the society is going to grow, we will spread our wings and reach out to many. I know there are some places where illiteracy is trending, I know we will fly high, she said.
