Vihiga United is eying a chance to play in the SportPesa Premier League. Speaking in Mumias before taking on former top-tier side Nairobi City Stars, Coach Edward Manoah said he is confident of his team being promoted to the top league.
“My players are calm and focused. We are firmly in the promotion race and we need maximum concentration in our remaining matches,” said Manoah.
He stated that the poor form of his team is over and they are ready to grace SportPesa Premier League. He promised to avoid a lean season as try to move to SPL.
“Every season, each team goes through a lean moment and for us, it came at a very critical moment but we have now overcome it,” he added.
Vihiga is third after Kenya Commercial Bank and Ushuru who have played one more game. Ushuru has 72 points, KCB 70 while Vihiga United has 68 points.
Ushuru were shocked by Nairobi City Stars at Camp Toyoyo grounds in Jericho who came from a goal down to win 2-1.
