American strategic interests that ranges from war on terror and social- economic partnerships with Kenya has forced us president Donald Trump to monitor political situation in the country.
A simmering political crisis that could plunge the country to a constitutional limbo is expeditiously becoming a reality as both Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta have taken hard stands on repeat elections scheduled October 17th.
But as a quick measure to protect her interests, a senior official of African – US relations has confirmed an ongoing pressure on two protagonists to reach a consensus over elections.
“We are not going to take our eyes from Kenya. Kenta matters. If our greatest embassy is at Nairobi, that means we have a state in the country,” said Donald Yamamoto, a Deputy Assistant Secretary at US- African Affairs.
To assure Kenyans of a credible election, Yamamoto further says:”Kenya is on probably a great election in October but its a few issues we need to focus and work on.”
US soldiers for many years have been using Kenyan vast lands for training on war against terror, one of the reasons the powerful country on earth cannot allow the country to plunge into war.
Further, the two governments have a clear tourism plan that see thousands of US travelers camp in Kenya for Holidays.
